Description: Transform your knitting game with the addition of beads - the ultimate source of amusement! In this class we'll knit an adorable bandana and learn several methods of adding beads to your knitting. Mel will teach a variety of methods and tricks for different types of projects, beads and yarn, but in this class specifically we will knit a bandana out of DK weight yarn with pony beads. The bandanna pattern and some beads will be provided, but feel free to bring more beads if you'd like! This class is for ages 14 and up.
Prior skills recommended: Basic knitting skills. You'll need to be able to knit, purl, and yarn over confidently.
Materials needed:
- One skein of DK or Worsted weight yarn, in a fiber that doesn't break too easily. Summer fibers recommended for good drape. We recommend Cascade Noble Cotton or Noro Sonata.
- One pair of knitting needles. We recommend circular needles of any length, and a size between US 5 and US8.
Materials that aren't required but will be very helpful:
- Extra beads! For this class we will be using pony beads, but there is some flexibility to what size bead you want to use. Just make sure the bead can fit onto your yarn easily.
- A crochet hook! We recommend any hook size F or smaller. A size C would be great for pony beads.
- A tapestry needle
Materials that are even less required, but bring them if you have them:
- Any additional beading supplies, like bead boards, beading needles, etc.
- Needle threaders - this can be the metal or plastic kind
- Graph paper
When: This class takes place on Saturday, June 22, from 10:15am-1:45pm.
Class Policies: Materials that you buy in person at Harmony for your class will be 20% off. Class fees are not refundable or exchangeable for any reason. Classes with 2 or fewer sign ups will be canceled, and if the class is canceled students will be notified via email 2 days before the class begins. All classes are held in-person at Harmony.
